Can you move or install a fireplace on a patio?
There are some ethanol fireplaces made specially for outdoor uses. In addition if you have a floor standing or table model you can certainly move it to a patio whenever you would like as long as you have a flat sturdy surface to place the fireplace on. You should however avoid drafts, and in no circumstances should you expose your fireplace to rain unless you have an outdoor model. Even a fireplace attached to a wall can be moved when you remodel the house, or if you decide to move to another apartment or house.

Does it smell or create odors?
Bio Fireplaces do not produce any smell or odors while operating. A slight smell is perceived once you extinguish the flame (like when you blow out a candle). Don't worry, the smell disappears within a few seconds and it nontoxic.

How can I extinguish the fire in my bio-ethanol fireplace?
We recommend that you let the ethanol contents of the burner completely burn off. Should you wish to extinguish the flame prior to the burner is emptied, you may use the burner lid extinguish the flame. Depending on the model of fireplace, slide (with enclosed handle) or place (wearing oven gloves) the burner lid to cover the flames. This cuts off oxygen supply and extinguishes the fire immediately.

How do I clean the Bio-Fireplace Burner?
Very easily, take a soft cloth and some liquid stainless cleaner and wipe all stainless steel areas of the fireplace. Your burner will be new in a few seconds. Once you have cooled the burner and no ethanol is still remaining you can wash it with hot water and soap. If you see some changes in the color do not worry it is normal that steel change slightly over time due to the effects of constant high temperature.

How long will Denatured Ethanol burn for?
Depending on the heating level setting you choose but on average one quart should last 6-8 hours and up to a max of 18-20 hours at minimal opening.

How much CO2 is emitted?
The quantity of CO2 emitted by burning a 3 hours ethanol fire is about equivalent to the amount of CO2 produced by burning 2 average candles.

How much does it cost to heat a house with ethanol?
Our fireplaces do usually produce 4500 to 6000 BTU of heat per burner. However, Ethanol is not intended to be used as a "primary" heat source for a home. Our fireplaces are designed for ambiance just as you would receive from a open hearth fireplace. Like any fire that consume a combustible heat is generated and will add to the temperature of the room.

Is the use of ethanol safe and are there regulations in place?
Yes the use of ethanol is safe with proper repercussions and use. The use of ethanol fireplaces is not restricted in the USA. However, safety measures are to be taken by safety instructions to ensure that consumers are safe is using the product as intended.

What are the accessories made from?
This of course varies from every accessory but most are made of a special ceramic and calcium silicate. They can be used over and over, but they can be broken and should not be dropped.

What happens to the air when fireplace is operating?
When ethanol burns it produces CO2 and some water steam. CO2 is a compound composed of two oxygen atoms covalently bonded to a single carbon atom.
