Q:

The description reads flame height ranges from 12 to 14 inches which leads me to visualise a tiny bit of flame dancing above the top edge of the glass since the burner unit is sitting in the middle of the 20 inch high glass. Perfect scenario for outdoor but for indoor use in a condo apartment. is the flame completely smokeless? At what heat will it set off the smoke detector on the ceiling? Does the glass get smoky after a while and what do you clean it with? If the unit is leaning up against the wall, will it marr the wall paint Asked by:  - 10/9/2014
Yes ethanol fireplaces are smokeless and ventless fireplaces. Heat does not set off smoke detectors, carbon monoxide does. Smoke produces carbon monoxide which trigger smoke detectors which ethanol fireplaces do not as they are "smokeless" and "ventless" fireplaces.
